Focused one-on-one no-gi jiu jitsu coaching in Los Angeles for beginners, competitors, and anyone serious about improving with purpose.
Every session starts with where you are, what is holding you back, and what you want to build next.

Clear fundamentals, confidence, and a practical roadmap. Build your base for lasting progress.

Develop specific positions, escapes, passing systems, wrestling, rubber guard, lockdown, or a more connected overall game.

Competition strategy, match preparation, pressure testing, and identifying weaknesses before they become losses.
"I coach the way I wish I had been coached when I was trying to put the pieces together."— Avi Cohn
I did not begin as a naturally dominant competitor. I experienced difficult losses, including losing my first competition 17–0. Instead of walking away, I became obsessed with understanding why techniques worked, how people improved, and how to build a game through repetition and problem solving.
That process shaped the way I coach today. I understand what it feels like to struggle, plateau, and question what to work on next. My coaching is designed to make improvement less random — by identifying the positions, habits, and decisions that are slowing a student down.
Today, as an instructor at Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet HQ in downtown Los Angeles and head coach for the USC BJJ club, I bring a focused, technical, and purposeful approach to every session. My goal is simple: help you develop real skills, a relentless mindset, and the confidence to perform when it matters most.
Recognized by Eddie Bravo for technical mastery and dedication to the system. My Los Angeles leg lock coaching is built on precision, control, and an encyclopedic understanding of submission mechanics.
